Dancing Houses of Amsterdam
Museum Quality Giclee Print, Limited Edition of 90, Size: 50 x 60 cm
Found along a canal behind Rembrandtplein, the Dancing Houses of Amsterdam offer one of the most picturesque views of this charming city. Originally the houses were supported by wooden stilts, which eventually let them wobble as if they were dancing. Most houses in Amsterdam have been reinforced and are now safe to occupy. Still, the houses on Paola’s painting appear to be dancing in a lively composition of intersected diagonals and curvatures. Executed in complementary hues of blue and yellow, this cityscape is the testimony to the artist’s life in the Netherlands, where she resided during her studies. The work was painted based on drawings made on location.
